Wildfire smoke heading south again

Be advised that it appears that smoke from the wildfires in Canada will start to make a return to parts of Virginia and Maryland over the next few days; the Richmond area is at yellow (moderate) today, while D.C. so far is at green.

Given the density of the smoke on satellite imagery, I wouldn’t be surprised if we returned to a code orange air quality alert, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups, sometime in the next few days. Just something to be aware of while you’re out and about. During the last outbreak, I found that the KN95 masks we wore during the pandemic worked well for the smoke.
