Watching winter weather potential for Monday

The overall pattern taking shape later this week/over the weekend is going to bring sharply colder air back to the Mid-Atlantic, just in time for a storm system arriving Monday out of the upper south; with cold air locked in place, wintry precipitation is likely Monday with minor accumulations (as of now), meaning a possibly hazardous commute Monday as well as Tuesday morning. Forecast models aren’t in total agreement yet as to whether this will be primarily snow, or a mix of snow and sleet or freezing rain (and that will also determine accumulations). I’ll have a better idea by Thursday evening and will make another post then. The key thing for now is that Monday/Monday night look potentially messy.
