Two snow chances next week but both minor; bigger story will be severe cold
Relatively mild temperatures continue through Saturday, then frigid air starts to work back into the area; but first, a round of snow Sunday with a weak system moving through North Carolina and southern Virginia. Snow totals will only amount to an inch or less in the Richmond area, and 2-3” in the northwest corner of the state.
The week ahead will bring high temperatures in the 20s, and overnight lows in the single digits even in Richmond and D.C through Thursday morning. Harrisonburg will likely dip below zero if you can believe it. The good news is that the mid to late week storm will miss us to the south; if we see anything from it, it’ll be mostly light snow accumulations of 1-3”. And more importantly, no freezing rain.
