Tornado watch in effect this afternoon/evening

Conditions favorable for the development of isolated weak, short lived tornadoes have become more widespread this afternoon with sufficient daytime heating and low to mid level windshear. A tornado watch is in effect for Richmond to D.C. until this evening, and severe thunderstorm watch for areas south of Richmond. Additional storms are likely to develop over the next several hours, some capable of damaging wind gusts to 60 mph, hail, and heavy rain and lightning.
