Snow totals decreasing for valley and northwest Virginia

Overall active pattern will bring more winter weather opportunities

Forecast model trends regarding this weekend’s winter storm system have been trending towards less snow for the Shenandoah Valley since these models have indicated that this system will be moving at a quicker pace…starting early Saturday morning and ending Saturday evening, perhaps as soon as 9 or 10pm. Concern remains about an area of freezing rain from Lynchburg west to Roanoke, in that part of southwest Virginia where ice accumulations of up to a quarter inch are possible. Otherwise, just another soaking rain for the rest of the state, between a half to one inch generally.

Not to worry, snow lovers…more opportunities await. The overall pattern looks pretty active for the next 2 weeks at least.
