Snow to rain on Tuesday for Richmond
Drizzle and sleet will come to an end in the Richmond area later this afternoon (Saturday); Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 50s. Then colder again Monday before our next winter storm system arrives. This storm will begin as snow Tuesday morning, continuing as snow through late afternoon, then warmer air starts to move in from the south Tuesday night, changing snow to rain (snow will continue a bit longer for areas north of Ashland, tapering off sometime after midnight). Still looking at 2-3” around Richmond by Wednesday morning, and 5 to 7” north of Ashland to D.C.
Wednesday’s temperatures look warm enough that if we see any additional precip, it’ll be rain, with the exception of far north and northwest Virginia (including parts of the Shenandoah Valley). Thankfully, temperatures after this winter storm will not crash into the teens and twenties like last time
