Freezing rain still to come; frigid temperatures this week

Quick update on today’s winter weather: we will probably see some breaks in the sleet today as some drier air gets wrapped into the storm from the south, but I still see freezing rain arriving sometime this afternoon or early evening, continuing overnight and ending early tomorrow morning, so the worst part of this is still to come. Because of the extended period of sleet, ice accumulations should be lighter than originally thought, more on the order of a quarter inch or so in the Richmond area, rather than close to an inch. Still bad, but better than it could’ve been. Temperatures will still be quite frigid from Tuesday morning onward, highs will not get above freezing through next weekend, with a lot of single digit low temperatures in the meantime.
