Decent first snow accumulations Friday

A winter weather advisory is in effect now for areas south of Fredericksburg; snow will commence around 6am Friday morning and continue through about noon or early afternoon. Temperatures will be cold enough to support all snow. Confidence is high that the Richmond area will see about 1-3 inches, with 2 to 3, possibly 4” likely in band running through Chesterfield and Petersburg. Amounts will be less the further north you go, with Fredericksburg being a good cutoff point to any meaningful accumulations. Morning temperatures will continue to start out in the low 30s or upper 20s this weekend, but afternoon high temperatures will reach the mid 40s under mostly sunny skies.
