Coastal storm system to bring heavy rains, wind Friday night through Saturday

Clouds will be on the increase tomorrow as the aforementioned coastal storm system moves closer. Rain will start to spread into southeast Virginia Friday afternoon, then reach the Richmond area by 6pm or so, and spread further west and north overnight. Winds will become gusty, upwards of 40-50 mph overnight and for much of the day Saturday, with heavy showers off and on through Saturday evening. Temperatures Saturday will likely top out in the low or mid 60s. This system will move out of our area late Saturday night, and sun returns for Sunday and early next week along with temperatures in the mid 70s. All told, we’re looking at 2-3” of rain along the coast, 1.5 to nearly 2” along the I-95 corridor, and 0.5 to 1” of rain across western Virginia.
