Chilly and overcast Wednesday; watching early next week for a wintry mess

Wednesday will shape up to be an odd anomaly to our recent stretch of warm weather…highs only in the mid/upper 30s under mostly cloudy skies (and some freezing rain in the D.C. area late Wednesday night and overnight), then 50s and 60s resume Friday and into the first half of the weekend with spotty off and on showers (maybe some very light wintry precip northern Virginia and D.C.) possible both Saturday and Sunday. Colder air settles in for next week, and we might quickly be looking at another messy winter storm system Monday/Tuesday. Temperatures right now will be close to marginal so we’d be facing a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Still a little ways out but I should have a better idea by Friday evening.
